A series of incidents that claimed the lives of at least 259 people, and injured nearly 400 more nation-wide, added up to one of the most violent month in Iraq since 2007, according to London-based AKE.

Fatalities last week came at a pace more than four times greater than the 60 deaths per week tallied in 2012, AKE said. Attacks have been varied in method, with militants employing small-arms assaults as well as suicide bombings.
