The Agua de Afuera, or ADA.x-1, well, intersected 340 metres of Vaca Muerta pay, as well as secondary targets including the Agrio, Quintuco and Tordillo formations.

The cores and cuttings will be analysed further shortly, the company said.

It was drilled to 3442 metres about 9 kilometres west of the LTE.x-1 unconventional well, which represented a new oil discovery.

Operator Americas Petrogas has a 45% stake, while partner ExxonMobil has a 45% stake.
