Upstream reported last Friday that Brightoil had meetings with Anadarko and Newfield Exploration to buy their assets in China.
Shares in Brightoil were suspended last Tuesday pending the announcement of what it called “a very substantial acquisition”.
The subsidiary that is set to be divested owns a non-operated interest in the Bohai field, which averaged about 11,000 barrels of oil per day during 2013.
