The Phobos-1 well drilled in Block 39 in the Sigsbee Escarpment area struck around 250 feet of high-quality oil pay in Lower Tertiary-aged reservoirs, the US independent said in a statement.
The discovery was made in a water depth of around 8500 feet about 18 kilometres south of Anadarko’s earlier Lucius discovery, which is under development, after the well was drilled by semi-submersible Maersk Developer to a total depth of 28,675 feet.
