The US independent has had great success finding massive natural gas reserves off East Africa - including the Windjammer, Barquentine and Lagosta complexes.

To date, Anadarko believes it has found resources upward of 30 trillion cubic feet of natural gas equivalent in the region, with 'tremendous running room' remaining.

Hackett, speaking at the Howard Weil conference in New Orleans, said front-end engineering and design work is underway for development of the Mozambique resources - including construction of a large-scale liquefied natural gas terminal consisting of two, five-million-tonne-per-annum trains.
