Joint venture partner Carnarvon Petroleum revealed on Tuesday that the semi-submersible Atwood Eagle was expected to mobilise to the well location well around Thursday this week.
It added that drilling was expected to start roughly five days after the rig starts mobilisation from its previous location.
Apache has been ready to spud the Phoenix South prospect for some time but rig availability and poor weather conditions have played a part in the US company rescheduling its drilling programme of Western Australia.
