The Houston-based explorer earned $2.28 billion in 2013 compared to $2 billion a year earlier, despite a slip in revenues from $17.07 billion to $16.05 billion.
Overall production declined from 778,679 barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2012 to 760,775 boepd due to the asset sales in a drop offset by new production.
On a quarterly basis, net profit was down significantly in the fourth quarter due to additional non-recurring costs of $368 million that chopped the bottom line to $230 million from $668 million in the year-ago period.
