The Australian explorer said Wednesday that the well had intersected a continuous section of oil-bearing Barney Creek shale, from 260 metres to 780 metres.
This oil window is deeper than previously assessed, and significant connection gases were also reported, Armour said.
Chips from core samples were placed into nipple dishes from various depth and treated with chlorothane to draw out the oil.
