The Brisbane-based company said on Thursday the 7138-square kilometre block ATP1087 covered thick prospective sections of the petroleum-rich South Nicholson and underlying Isa super basins, which extended south into the company’s ATP1107 block and west into its Northern Territory acreage.
Four petroleum exploration wells drilled by Comalco in the early 1990s had targeted the Lawn Hill shale and had shown up to 8% gas from mud log readings.
