The company said the extension had been confirmed in the Asgard-1 well which was deepened to a revised total depth of 3524 metres after strong gas shows were still being encountered in discreet sand units close to the original prognosed total depth of 3400 metres.
Buru now plans to run a full suite of logs to evaluate the thick Laurel formation section which it said appeared to be similar geologically to that encountered in the Valhalla and Paradise wells.
