The Milanese explorer commissioned the independentinvestigation in the wake of bribery allegations levelled at services playerSaipem, of which Eni is a 43% owner.
Eni said that “the results of the audits revealed neitherevidence of illegal or corrupt conducts of Eni, nor the existence ofintermediary contracts between Eni and the third parties under investigation”.
The board of the Italian explorer said it had taken note ofthe dismissals and organisational changes by Saipem aswell as the services player’s initiation of its own audits, but stressed thatas a separate listed company Saipem held “managerial autonomy”.
