AWE managing director Bruce Clement said on Wednesday that results of a pressure test, flow test and a 3D seismic programme had indicated that a “horizontal, multi-stage, hydraulically fracture stimulated well at the Senecio discovery could be economically viable”.

The Senecio-2 shale well was fracture stimulated over a five-metre perforation interval in the Dongara and Wagina tight sandstone formation in August.
