The companies are disputing circumstances surrounding the 2014 work programme and budget of EP127 and EP128 joint ventures.
Statoil served default notices to Baraka in regards to cash calls it said the company had failed to pay.
“Baraka has been reluctant to resort to court action, but was left with no alternative after receiving the default notices,” the company said in a statement.
