The Balai oilfield lies within the Balai Cluster risk service contract, which also comprises the Spaoh, West Acis and Bentara fields. The RSC area is located offshore Sarawak, at least 100 kilometres north-east of Bintulu.
State-owned company Petronas, which jointly owns BCP in a partnership with Australia’s Roc Oil and Dialog D&P, said the field’s first oil was achieved at the end of last week using an early production vessel as part of the RSC’s extended well testing programme.
