The Times newspaper claims the company plans to cut nearly 300 jobs at its head office in Reading, England, with “significant reductions” also planned in Australia.

A spokesperson for BG’s Australian subsidiary QGC, confirmed the company was planning to reduce numbers as its Queensland Curtis liquefied natural gas project (QCLNG) neared completion.

“QGC is reducing the number of its people in the next few weeks, which primarily reflects the planned and progressive shift from construction of the Queensland Curtis LNG project to commissioning and operations and also the need to manage costs across BG group,” he told Upstream.
