The A-18D development well will pursue targets at 12,000 feet subsea and is expected to take about three months to drill, the Houston-based company said.
The Petrex-21 drilling rig had been slated to carry out the drilling job from the Albacora platform after accommodation work.
BPZ is exploring the Z-1 block, which covers about 7500 gross acres and is located in the Tumbes basin in less than 200 feet of water.
