The circumstances of the deaths outside the Mellitah facility 60 miles west of the capital, Tripoli remain unknown, but reports indicate both were shot.
Earlier on Friday, the UK’s Foreign Office was investigating reports of the death of a British man and a New Zealand woman.
A Foreign Office spokesperson told Upstream at the time: "We are aware of reports that the bodies of two foreign nationals have been found in Libya and are urgently seeking further information from the authorities."
