The Giremir-1 well will be drilled to 1250 metres, with its deepest target the Upper Sinan formation.
The block is also believed to sit on the Dadas shale oil trend as well as Cretaceous and Ordovician conventional plays.
Well costs are expected to be $1.4 million.
A prior Calik and Anatolia well, Guvenir-1, was drilled to 1956 metres and did not come across the shale formation.
