The company has started acquiring phase one of the shoot, which will cover 2260 square kilometres in Halten Terrace, a geological province containing giant fields such as Aasgard, Kristin, Victoria, Tyrihans and Heidrun.
The survey will target the southern trend of already producing Jurassic reservoirs and discoveries in the Cretaceous reservoirs.
CGG is using the 3D seismic vessel Oceanic Champion for this phase one programme, which is expected to take three months.
