The seismic vessel Oceanic Endeavour is gathering 11,330 square kilometres of 3D data in the shoot, which CGG said had "high prefunding from a number of major industry players".
As Upstream reported last month, France's Total is understood to be the main backer of the survey, which also covers some open acreage.
The French player acquired operating stakes on five blocks in the basin in last May’s licensing round, with oil giants BP and Petrobras as partners.
