The US shale giant put out an offer sheet for its Shelby Trough prospect, totalling 47,000 gross acres (22, net acres) at the NAPE Expo in Houston.

Chesapeake puts the unrisked reserves for property at 1.4 trillion cubic feet of natural gas from shale horizons that lie between 10,800 and 13,200 feet below the surface.

In addition to the prolific shale zones, the property overlies conventional producing formations such as the James Lime, Travis Peak and Cotton Valley.
