The ANP cleared a plan for the US supermajor to drill six vertical wells of up to 665 metres down, four to collect logging while drilling (LWD) data, and two to collect evidence, according to records.
It also was also authorised to re-enter the 9-FR-43D-RJS well to carry out logging, the documents indicated.
A Chevron spokesman confirmed the work would be geotechnical in nature, with no exploration or production drilling planned.
