The EPA hit Chevron subsidiary Chevron Pipe Line with a $875,000 civil penalty which will be deposited in the Oil Spill Liability trust fund which is used to provide funds to federal agencies to respond to oil spills.

The fines relate to two spills which took place in 2010 and 2013 along Chevron’s pipelines in Utah.

The 2010 spill involved a discharge of about 800 barrels of oil from the company’s Rangely to Salt Lake Crude System-2 pipeline.
