Work on the Lanco 8H well comes as the company inspects at least seven wells across the US state over concerns the wellhead configurations are not able to handle high well pressures.
Chevron has shut down operations at those seven wells pending the inspections, the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) said.
A spokesman for the DEP said the review was voluntary and not mandated by the state regulator.
