FourChevron employees have been arrested in Indonesia in relation to aninvestigation into alleged corruption on an environmental project in Sumatra.

TheIndonesian attorney general’s office has been investigating the US oil major’ssubsidiary, PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia (PT CPI), for months over allegationsof graft at a bioremediation project at the Duri oilfield, onshoreSumatra.

The officealleged that the project, which was designed to restore soil quality afterdrilling by PT CPI, had not been carried out properly and that two localcontractors – Green Planet Indonesia and Sumi Gita Jaya – were not appointed inthe correct manner.
