The Bozhong 22-1-2 well was drilled to a total depth of 4611 metres in average water depths of about 25 metres, encountering a gas reservoir with a total thickness of about 92 metres.
Subsequent test production of the find in the south-central Bohai area yielded flow rates of around 14.2 million cubic feet per day, the Beijing-headquartered explorer said.
“The discovery of Bozhong 22-1 demonstrates the good prospects of buried hills for future gas exploration of the south slope in Bozhong Sag,” CNOOC said.
