ConocoPhillips will pay an $18 million cancellation fee for the Houston Colbert, one of six F&G JU-3000N units ordered by the driller and currently under construction in Singapore.
The jack-up was to have gone on a yearlong contract for exploration in the Chukchi Sea starting in the fourth quarter of 2013 at a dayrate of $235,000.
"The company is actively marketing the rig," Noble said in its latest fleet status report.
