The Proteus-1ST2 exploration well flowed at a maximum rate of 7.3 million cubic feet per day of condensate-bearing gas on a 16/64-inch choke, Karoon said.
The well, located on permit WA-398-P, tested a section between 4920 and 5250 metres deep in the Jurassic-aged Plover and Montara formations.
"Initial analysis indicates that significantly higher flow rates would be achieved with appropriate infrastructure in place," Karoon said in a statement.
