New Standard said the decision to terminate the drilling agreement with Century Energy Services (MB Century) was based on concerns relating to safety, competency and operational performance and reliability grounds.
"Rig down and the demobilisation of Rig-14 will now be undertaken as safely and quickly as possible," said New Standard.
Drilling will resume at the suspended Gibb Maitland wellsite once an alternative drilling rig alternative is brought in.
