State firm Cupet is gearing up to drill a 27,000-foot well on the island, billed as the longest of its type the company has tackled, according to the Miami Herald, which cited local media reports and news service EFE.
The probe - which will follow about 10 wells of a similar type drilled in 2013 - will be carried out in an area 60 to 100 miles east of Havana, the Herald reported.
