The rig, which disconnected from tugs over the weekend, has sustained some "wave damage" to its topsides and some watertight hatches have breached, causing water damage inside, Shell incident commander Sean Churchfield said in a conference call with reporters.
Emergency and service generators are also out, which means a rotating team of salvage specialists will have to work without power or bring on generators, Churchfield said.
