Jenkins is to take on the new role on 1 July when he will replace retiring chief executive Brian Nixon, who has led the organisation from its establishment in 2010.
The new DNS boss said that decommissioning was set to enter “a fascinating period”, with latest estimates suggesting a £4.5 billion ($7.56 billion) outlay would be made in the UK sector over the next five years spanning forty platforms.
