The Tawke-17 well tested at a rate of 1500 barrels per day of 26-to-28 degree-API crude from an Upper Jurassic reservoir underlying the field after striking several Triassic zones that proved either tight or water-bearing.
The discovery was made in the Sargelu formation, more than 200 metres below the main Cretaceous reservoir. Two other reservoir intervals in the Upper Jurassic have still to be perforated and tested.
