The Australia-listed company started drilling the probe in the early hours of Thursday morning in Block ATP 940P, located in the Nappamerri Trough shale gas fairway of the central Cooper basin in South West Queensland.
Along with the three other wells in the programme (Charal-1, Padme-1 and Amidala-1), Anakin-1 will test the potential for unconventional gas production, targeting the Permian Roseneath and Murteree shale plays and the tight sandstones of the Permian Patchawarra formation.
