The company said the discovery “exceeded expectations” when it hit a thick oil column and discovered multiple hydrocarbon-bearing zones.
The well intersected a ten-metre gross oil column in the McKinlay-Upper Namur pool and a six-metre gross column in the Namur sandstone.
Another five-metre gross column was hit in the mid-Namur, with more oil shows in the deeper formations.
The first drill stem test carried out, tested a gross 15-metre section and recovered 46 barrels of oil over a four-hour period.
