The company said its Tibirita-1A well encountered 50 feet of hydrocarbons and flowed at a rate of 580 barrels per day of 11.3 degrees API oil on artificial lift.
The find adds to Ecopetrol's momentum in the Cano Sur area, where finds in blocks CPO-10 and CPO-11 have added to its Trasgo discovery made in August 2011.
"Ecopetrol will continue the evaluation and scale activities of the Tibirita discovery," the company said.
