Tarek ElBarkatawy, who used to be an employee of US engineering company Weatherford inAlgeria, has been made chairman.
He replaces Sherif Haddara who was recentlyappointed oil minister in a cabinet reshuffle that increased the power ofIslamists in the government of President Mohamed Mursi .
