A series of three drill stem tests were carried out at the E-1 discovery well in the Haute Mer A licence that “confirmed the excellent reservoir properties of the sand channels as well as some of the fluid characteristics”, said Calgary-based Oryx Petroleum, which holds a 20% stake in the CNOOC-operated find made last autumn.

The discovery drilled by drillship Jasper Explorer encountered gross pay zones of  102 metres and 30 metres holding natural gas and oil, respectively, in the N5 interval and 16 metres with oil in the N3 interval.
