The rig's ballast tank was flooded in the incident that led to a suspension of drilling operations.
The repairs conducted by divers are meant to be temporary, the US Coast Guard (USCG) told Upstream. Once the repairs are complete, the rig will return to work drilling for Anadarko on the Deep Nansen well in East Breaks Block 645, USGC said.
“The rig is still connected to the riser,” a spokesman added.
