First steam at CNR's Kirby South project

The Calgary-based, Toronto-listed outfit had previouslytargeted November for steam-in, with first oil due two months later.

CNR chief executive Steve Laut said the milestone wasanother step in expanding the producer’s “long-life, low-decline asset base” inCanadian oil sands.

Situated in the Wood Buffalo municipality of northern Alberta, the Kirby South project is targeted to ramp up output to40,000 barrels per day of bitumen by the end of next year.
