The apparent shift follows recent disappointing results from drilling intended to prove up more resources around the frontier Arctic field, where an earlier proposed $15 billion concept involving a semi-submersible platform with pipeline to onshore terminal is now being re-evaluated.
“There is a competing concept that is better suited to what the field and area may hold in terms of resources,” Statoil’s director for field development in northern Norway, Erik Strand Tellefsen, told news wire NTB.
