The concession was under force majeure since 2005 because of overlapping maritime border claims between the Republic of Cameroon and the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.
Border claims still have not been resolved, but the partners have agreed to lift the force majeure so they are able to start exploration activities.
The current exploration period started on Wednesday, with a minimum work obligation of one exploration well in the next 15 months.
