HRT is undergoing a reorganisation after failing to find commercial oil in an elaborate and costly exploration programme in Brazil's remote Amazon Solimoes basin and off Namibia.
Marcio Mello, who resigned in May but is still a member of the board, was asked to give back part of the compensation in two November messages from the company's current management including current chief executive Milton Franke, HRT said in a statement.
