Introduced by Senators Mary Landrieu, Democrat ofLouisiana and Lisa Murkowski, Republican of Alaska, the Fixing America'sInequities with Revenues (FAIR) Act would give states 37.5% of the take fromoil, gas or renewable energy produced off their coasts.
The legislation aims to address perennial complaints bystates that taxpayers are forced to shoulder the obligations of infrastructureand pollution but reap none of the benefits of oil and gas produced off theirshores.
