Shell spokeswoman Kitty Eide said technology tests are still ongoing for a possible subsea compression solution aimed at boosting production from the Norwegian Sea field.
The Anglo-Dutch supermajor has yet to make a decision, originally due by the end of last year, on whether to adopt subsea or platform-based compression at the field.
A pilot project for subsea compression is ongoing at the Nyhamna gas processing plant on Norway’s west coast, where Shell has decided to install two compressors as part of an expansion of the onshore facility, giving it more time to make a final decision on the offshore solution.
