The extent of extra work required to make the unit compliant with Norsok standards and ready for deployment on the Eni-operated oilfield in the Barents Sea is now considered so great that only a handful of specialist yards are capable of carrying it out, one industry source told Upstream.
Both Kvaerner Stord and Aibel’s yard at Haugesund are cited as possible candidates for the work, although Dutch yard Keppel Verolme has previously handled commissioning jobs for three similar Sevan Marine-designed units – Piranema, Hummingbird and Voyageur Spirit.
