Santos revealed on Tuesday GLNG was more than 75% complete and on track for first LNG shipment by next year.
The operator said the 4.3-kilometre pipeline tunnel to Curtis Island had broken through from the mainland after 10 months of tunnelling.
It will now be lined and flooded and the pipeline will be floated and pulled through.
In anticipation of the start of gas transmission, the pipeline will be completed in the next few months.
