Brighton Magistrates Court acquitted Lucas and four others of obstructing a public highway and of failing to comply with a police order to relocate to a specified area
Speaking after the verdict, Lucas said she had been engaged in a peaceful protest to “highlight the environmental impact of fracking, particularly its role in accelerating climate change”.
Sussex police said that they accepted the court’s decision and stressed the “difficult balancing act” required in policing the months-long protests in West Sussex.
