The group is pressing for the release of the pair, Sini Saarela from Finland and Swiss Marco Weber, who were taken into custody by the Coast Guard on Wednesday after attempting to climb the Prirazlomnaya platform, operated by Gazprom Neft Shelf, in a dawn protest against Arctic drilling.
Greenpeace said in a statement its mother ship Arctic Sunrise is currently circling the platform at the Prirazlomnoye field in the Pechora Sea while trying to make contact with Coast Guard vessel Ladoga that is trailing it with the two activists held onboard.
