Thestate-owned operator was found by the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) to havefailed to carry out safety checks of special lifting gear after repeatedlypostponing the procedure, despite an earlier demand from the agency in the wakeof serious incidents.
The PSAalso found the North Sea platform’s blowout preventer lifting crane was beingused beyond its design lifetime while scaffolding – said by the agency to bethe cause of 20% of falling-object incidents – was in a defective condition.
